You’re in pain, it’s Saturday morning, your regular dentist is closed until Monday, and you searched “emergency dentist hamilton saturday” because you need someone to answer the phone and see you today.

Red Rose Dentistry is open Saturdays from 9:30am to 5:00pm. We take same-day emergency appointments. Call (905) 521-2221 and our front desk team will tell you how soon we can see you.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency — When to Call vs When to Wait

Call immediately if you have any of the following:

Severe, throbbing pain that ibuprofen does not reduce. This usually signals an infection or an exposed nerve. It will not resolve on its own, and waiting can make treatment more complicated.

Swelling in your face, jaw, or gums. Facial swelling can indicate an abscess spreading beyond the tooth. If swelling affects your breathing or eye, go directly to a hospital emergency room. If swelling is localized to your gum or jaw area, call us — we can treat the source same-day.

A broken tooth with sharp edges or exposed nerve. A broken tooth that is merely rough but not painful can wait until Monday. A broken tooth that exposes pink tissue or causes sharp pain when breathing air through your mouth should be treated today.

A knocked-out permanent tooth. Time matters. Rinse the tooth gently without touching the root. Place it back in the socket if possible, or store it in milk. Call us immediately. Teeth reimplanted within 60 minutes have the highest survival rate.

Bleeding that does not stop after 15 minutes of firm pressure. Persistent bleeding after an extraction or injury requires immediate attention.

Lost crown or filling with sharp pain. A lost crown without pain can wait. If cold air or water causes sharp, lingering pain, the tooth structure is exposed and needs same-day protection.

Do not wait until Monday if the pain prevents sleep, over-the-counter medication provides no relief, you see visible pus or swelling, or you have a fever with tooth pain. These are signs of infection that require treatment now, not in two days.

Emergency Dental Treatments We Perform Same-Day

Red Rose Dentistry handles most dental emergencies on-site, same day. You do not need a referral. You will not be sent to another clinic after waiting for an exam.

Emergency extractions: If a tooth cannot be saved, Dr. Abeer performs surgical and simple extractions during your emergency visit. This includes wisdom teeth causing sudden pain or infection.

Emergency root canal treatment: If the tooth can be saved, Dr. Firas opens the tooth, removes infected pulp tissue, and places a temporary filling to relieve pain. A permanent restoration follows at a second appointment. See our root canal treatment page for full procedure details.

Temporary crown or filling replacement: If a crown or filling has come off and the tooth is sensitive, we place a temporary restoration to protect the tooth until a permanent replacement is fabricated.

Abscess drainage and infection management: If you have a visible gum swelling or abscess, we drain the infection and prescribe antibiotics as needed. Treating the source of infection relieves pain within hours.

Denture repair: If you have a broken denture and rely on it for eating or speaking, our on-site denturist Michael Fijolek can assess and repair many breaks same-day.

What we refer out: Traumatic facial injuries involving broken jawbones, deep lacerations requiring plastic surgery, or infections that have spread beyond the oral cavity and require IV antibiotics. In these cases, we direct you to the nearest hospital emergency department and explain exactly what to tell the triage nurse.

What Happens When You Call — From Phone to Treatment Today

Here is exactly what happens when you call (905) 521-2221 for an emergency appointment on a Saturday:

Step 1: You call. We answer.
Our front desk team answers the phone. You describe your symptoms briefly — what hurts, when it started, and whether you have swelling or fever. This takes two minutes.

Step 2: We tell you when to come in.
Based on what you describe, we give you a specific arrival time — typically within a few hours of your call. If your symptoms suggest a life-threatening infection (swelling affecting breathing, high fever with facial swelling), we tell you to go directly to the emergency room and explain why.

Step 3: You arrive. Free parking is waiting.
Our clinic is at 135 James Street South in downtown Hamilton. We have a designated free parking spot for patients. No circling for meters. No parking tickets. Walk in, check in with the front desk.

Step 4: Emergency exam and X-ray.
Dr. Firas or Dr. Abeer examines the affected area and takes a targeted X-ray to diagnose the problem. This takes 15–20 minutes. At the end of the exam, you know exactly what is wrong.

Step 5: Treatment plan and cost.
We explain what treatment is needed, what it costs, and what your payment options are. If you have insurance, we check your coverage. If you have CDCP, we verify your eligibility. You know the cost before treatment begins.

Step 6: Treatment or temporary stabilization.
If the treatment can be completed same-day (extraction, abscess drainage, temporary restoration), we do it immediately. If the procedure requires a follow-up (permanent crown after root canal), we complete the emergency portion today and schedule the next step.

Step 7: Pain relief.
Most patients walk out with pain either resolved or manageable with over-the-counter medication. We prescribe antibiotics if infection is present. We give you written aftercare instructions specific to your procedure.

For patients with dental anxiety, we offer nitrous oxide sedation during emergency treatment. You can request this when you call.

Emergency Dental Costs in Hamilton — Exam Fees and Treatment Pricing

An emergency dental exam at Red Rose Dentistry costs $120 for the examination and necessary X-ray. This fee covers the diagnosis. It does not include the cost of treatment, which depends on what is needed.

Here is what common emergency treatments cost at our clinic:

Treatment Cost Range Notes
Emergency exam + X-ray $120 Diagnosis only; credited toward treatment if done same-day

Surgical extraction $400–$700 Impacted or broken below the gum line

Temporary filling or crown recementation $100–$200 Protects tooth until permanent restoration

Insurance: We accept most dental insurance plans and direct-bill where possible. If your insurance cannot be verified on a Saturday, you pay at time of service and we provide the paperwork for your reimbursement claim.

CDCP: The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers emergency examinations and necessary treatment. If you have a CDCP card, we verify your eligibility and explain what is covered before treatment. See our CDCP information page for details.

Payment plans: If your emergency treatment cost exceeds what you can pay same-day, we offer in-house payment arrangements. Ask about this when you call — do not delay calling because you are worried about cost.

No insurance: The emergency exam fee of $120 is payable at the visit. Treatment costs are discussed and approved by you before we begin. No hidden charges. No surprises.

Questions Hamilton Patients Ask About Emergency Dental Care

My regular dentist is closed. Can I come to you just for this emergency?
Yes. You do not need to switch dentists. We treat your emergency and send a report to your regular dentist so your records stay current. After your emergency is resolved, you return to your regular dentist for ongoing care. Half of our emergency patients have a different regular dentist.

How fast can you actually see me on a Saturday?
Most Saturday emergency calls are seen within two hours of calling. Morning calls are typically booked by 11:00am. Afternoon calls by 2:00pm. We hold appointment slots specifically for same-day emergencies — they are not filled by routine patients.

What if I’m not sure it’s a real emergency?
Call anyway. Describe your symptoms to our front desk team. We will tell you honestly whether you need to come in today or if Monday morning is safe. We have told patients to wait until Monday when the situation genuinely allows it. We do not fabricate urgency to fill a chair.
