You chipped your front tooth on a popcorn kernel at the movies last night. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s sharp against your lip and you don’t want to go to work looking like this. You don’t have a regular dentist. You searched “walk in dentist hamilton downtown” because you need someone to see you today—not in two weeks, not after a referral, not after filling out six forms online.

At Red Rose Dentistry, we accept walk-in patients and same-day appointments at our James Street South clinic. A walk-in exam costs $120 including necessary X-rays. This page covers what we treat on a walk-in basis, what it costs, and how to walk in today.

What We Treat on a Walk-In Basis — And What Needs a Scheduled Appointment

Not every dental issue is a walk-in issue. Here is what we can treat same-day without an appointment, and what’s better suited to a scheduled visit.

Walk-in — we can treat this today:

Emergency — call immediately, we’ll see you same-day:

If you have an emergency, call (905) 521-2221 immediately. We hold emergency appointment slots every day. For full details on emergency care, see our emergency dental services page.

Better scheduled — book within the week:

When in doubt, call. Describe your situation to our front desk team at (905) 521-2221. We’ll tell you whether to walk in now, book for later today, or schedule a regular appointment. We don’t upsell. We don’t fabricate urgency. We give you an honest answer.

How to Walk In — What to Expect When You Arrive

Before you walk in: Call (905) 521-2221. Tell us what you need. We’ll confirm we can treat it today and give you an estimated arrival time so you’re not waiting longer than necessary. Calling ahead also lets us prepare for your specific issue—if you chipped a tooth, we’ll have bonding material ready. If your denture cracked, we’ll make sure Michael Fijolek is available.

Arriving: Our clinic is at 135 James Street South, Unit #114, in downtown Hamilton. We’re a four-minute walk from the Hamilton GO Centre. The clinic is on the ground floor—no stairs, fully accessible. Free parking is available in our designated spot. If you’re driving, call ahead for parking directions.

Check-in: Tell the front desk you’re a walk-in. You’ll fill out a brief medical history form—five minutes. If you have insurance, we verify it while you wait. If you don’t, we’ll explain the cost before treatment.

The exam: Dr. Firas or Dr. Abeer examines the issue and takes an X-ray if needed. For a chipped tooth, they’ll assess the extent of the damage. For a lost filling, they’ll check for decay underneath. You’ll know what’s wrong and what it will cost to fix.

Treatment: Most walk-in issues are treated during the same visit. A chipped tooth can be smoothed or bonded in 20–30 minutes. A lost filling can be replaced in 30–45 minutes. A broken denture can often be repaired same-day by Michael Fijolek. If you need follow-up care, we book it before you leave.

Walking out: You came in with a chipped tooth or a lost filling. You walk out with it fixed. Treatment complete. Next appointment booked if needed.

Questions Hamilton Patients Ask About Walk-In Dental Care

Do I need to call before walking in?

You don’t have to, but it helps. Calling (905) 521-2221 before you walk in lets us confirm we can treat your issue today and give you an arrival time that minimizes your wait. If you just show up, we’ll still see you—but you may wait longer if we’re with scheduled patients.

What if I walk in and you can’t treat me today?

This is rare for walk-in-appropriate issues. If it happens, we’ll explain why—for example, a complex crown replacement requires lab fabrication time—and book you for the next available appointment, often within 24–48 hours. We won’t send you away without a plan.

I’m not a patient here. Can I still walk in?

Yes. You don’t need to be an existing patient. You don’t need a referral. Walk in, fill out a new patient form, and we’ll treat you. After your walk-in visit, you’re welcome to make Red Rose Dentistry your regular dental home—or return to your existing dentist. Half our walk-in patients become regular patients.

Can I walk in on a Saturday?

Yes. We’re open Saturdays from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Saturday walk-ins are common—especially for weekend sports injuries, broken dentures, and issues people notice on Friday night and want fixed before Monday morning.
